– WHAT’S NEXT – Coming Down? –
It was worse than we thought.
“The way of the wicked is deep darkness;…”
(Prov. 4:19 ESV)
We didn’t know how bad it was because we weren’t there. I’m speaking of early man living upon the earth. Wickedness abounded.
Every thought and intention of man was evil. The world and every living being in it must be destroyed. And except for selected animals and one human family – Noah’s – it was.
And life on earth began again. And, again, mankind was corrupted.
“Where there is no [wise, intelligent] guidance,
the people fall [and go off course like a ship
without a helm…” (Prov. 11:14 TAB)
The “ship” (world) was out of control.
The gods flourished.
Adam’s race was scandalous, malicious, deplorable, egregious. dreadful, and worshippers of false gods. Child sacrifices were not uncommon. Unloving parents would hand over their innocent children to pagan priests who would drop them into a raging fire pit. The parents believed their “bribe” to the gods would set them up for prosperity, resources and fruitful farms.
O.K., I know. Tough stuff.
“In generations past He [God] permitted all
the nations to walk in their own ways;…”
(Acts 14:16 TAB)
But hang on, dear Reader, something was coming. His name was Moses. At the bidding of the Hebrew God, he and Brother Aaron would, in spite of threatening skies hurling forth thunder and lightning bolts, make the treacherous climb to the top of Mt. Sinai to meet with the Israel’s God. No one else was allowed to accompany them “lest He [God] break out against them” because of their wickedness and disobedience. (Ex.19:24b KJV) (Is God really that stern?) Think “flood.”
Imagine the brothers meeting El Shaddai (God Almighty) at the top of the mountain! It must have been in one sense terrifying. While there, God gave Moses a list of Ten Commandments to bring back to the people, the first being:
“Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.” (Ex.20:3)
If followed, they (the Ten Commandants) would lead the people into peace and prosperity. It took a while, but the nation of Israel was changed forever.
But wait, there’s more to come.
Smoke from the small olive-wood-fueled fires scattered throughout the town of Bethlehem blended with the detectable odor of animal dung and urine laid down on the dusty road. The town swelled beyond its capacity to house its many visitors from all over the region who had come to register their Roman citizenship in response to a decree from Caeser Agustus.
What was about to happen would be missed by most of the people there in the small Judean town that night. They didn’t know the bright star overhead was an Announcement, they didn’t know the moaning’s they’d heard from a woman in the throes of giving birth inside a stable they’d passed were bringing forth a King. They didn’t know that night there were shepherds praising God with angels on a hillside nearby, and they didn’t know they were treading on Holy ground. They didn’t know this child was not a son of Adam – He was the Son of God. His Name was Jesus.
—————————————————————————————————-
It was thirty years before the Lord Jesus began His ministry and began preaching the Gospel. The advent of the Gospel changed our world. It began at Jerusalem, travelled through the Middle East, and exploded throughout Europe. As you know. eventually it was brought to all eastern and western countries, including our own by faithful and dedicated missionaries.
“The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light…”
(Mat 4:16a)
God’s Word was on the loose! Dramatic changes appeared throughout society. The status of women was raised, and children were to be respected. New parameters were set regarding morality in response of the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Ten Commandments. We have so much to be thankful for. We have no idea of the benefits we all have received simply because we were born into a Christian nation.
Well, it was one.
I write this with deep concern. The United States is now regarded by many as being Post Christian. Our history is being discredited and locked away. Our forefathers, disparaged. If things continue like this our children and grandchildren may not even know the name of “George Washington.” And then there are those who would relish taking the Name of our God and His Son Jesus Christ out of our national vocabulary forever.
If the foundation crumbles the nation will fall. Let us prepare ourselves for whatever is coming. Build spiritual muscle by reading the Bible and praying. Attend church. It is necessary for us to avail ourselves of the comfort and love of the brethren. Let us be dispensers of love and kindness. And let us always remember that our Lord has promised to never leave or forsake us!
“…He who lives in you is greater (mightier) than he who
is in the world. (1 John 4:4b TAB)

Saturday Sunday School
Pastor Coty Writes:
The Bible itself asks us to give as much as we have received. In this sense, we also learn that if we know something useful to others and do not share it with them, we are considered selfish. For all these reasons, my wife, Rosena Joseph, decided several years ago to help the children of Cahess. She shares her knowledge with them, teaching them how to live well with one another, as the Bible instructs.
This class has borne much fruit because everyone in the village can testify to its impact. They speak of how the children in the “Club des Enfants” receive a good education and upbringing. The first beneficiaries of Miss Nana’s work are the children’s parents, because the children learn how to speak and interact with them—something parents themselves should be teaching. The second beneficiaries are the children, who receive great recognition both at home and in the community. And finally, the third beneficiary is society as a whole, because these children will not pose a threat to society in the future.
We receive monthly aid from Coastal Haiti Mission to purchase small treats that encourage the children to attend. Each week, they receive something during class—not only as motivation but also as an assurance that they will have at least something to eat. It is far too easy for a child to go an entire day without eating anything at all.
In this sense, once again, I want to remind all the supporters of this program, that every small gesture you make, has a significant impact.

The School Lunch Program
Pastor Coty Writes:
If someone were to ask how the school is doing, I would answer: The school is doing well because, by the grace of God, we are accomplishing even more than what we promised.
The work of Coastal Haiti Mission in the Village of Cahess is a transformative effort that brings significant change not only to many lives but also to society. The presence of this school in the area is a great thing. In Haiti, schools are often described as places that provide the “bread” of education but not daily sustenance. Initially, we shared this same idea—to provide the “bread” of education—but through God’s grace and the servants He placed in our path, we have been able to do both.
Every morning, nearly the entire village is represented in the school because almost every family has at least one student enrolled. If only you could be present at the school each morning, you would truly understand how much the people in this area are blessed through this mission. A teacher provides the “bread” of education, and the kitchen provides daily sustenance—all thanks to those who support this work.

This is a Game
Pastor Coty Writes:
This is a game.
I am introducing four girls who are members of the church in Cahess, and are who shown in the photo below. Among these four women, there is one mother and three of her children. I am asking you to find out who the mother is, and, among the three children shown, who is the first, second, and fourth. I specify that the three children were not born one after the other—there is a boy in the family. Here’s how it is: the first is a girl, the second is a girl, the third is a boy, and the fourth is a girl. Here are the names of the four women in the photo, from left to right: Nathalie – Gamanie – Nadege – Katianna.
Good luck!
The answer is located at the end of the newsletter. It is the very last item.
Life in the Village
Pastor Coty Writes:
These days, almost all Haitians living in rural areas are filled with great hope because mango season is almost upon us. All day long, people look up and say in their hearts, “We lift our eyes upward and reflect on when our deliverance will come,” because when it’s mango season, it’s not just a fruit people eat for dessert, but a means to fight hunger. In this sense, “looking up” means looking at the mango trees. When mango season comes, it significantly reduces hunger. In about a month, mangos will be everywhere, and people will breathe a huge sigh of relief regarding food insecurity. Here are some things that happen when mangos are in season:
- Those who own mango trees are happy because they can sell the mangos and earn some money.
- Many young women and men start trading mangos—those who don’t own mango trees buy mangos from others and then sell them in places like Trou-du-Nord or Cap-Haïtien.
- Motorcycle taxi drivers benefit from transporting mango vendors, which helps them make money more easily.
- Parents worry less about food for their households because everyone is eating mangos—if there is nothing else at home, they can still get by.
- Children whose parents have mango trees enjoy inviting other kids without trees to share mangos with them.
For all these reasons and many more, people in the village of Cahess can hardly wait to see the mangos start ripening.
So, the arrival of mango season brings both economic opportunities and a sense of communal sharing.

A great relief for a hungry people!!
The Trees are beginning to Bear Fruit
Pastor Coty Writes:
The fruit trees we bought are doing wonderfully! Some have already started bearing fruit, like lemons and passion fruits. Other trees are thriving as well.
In these photos, there is a pomegranate tree, a soursop tree, and passion fruit growing.
This is truly a beautiful sight—something very encouraging.

The Drought Resistant Garden Program
The Solidarity Gardeners by Kathy Kangas, Program Leader
I would like you to meet, Nelte Pierre. She is one of the Solidarity Gardeners.
She grows eggplant, spinach and peppers. After harvesting, she shares, sells and uses these vegetables for her own use.
She also has a Lemon tree and Orange tree.
The garden has changed her life as she is no longer dependent on the market for these items.
Nelte, who is pictured in the photos below, would like to say Thank You, for helping the people in Cahess with their Gardens.
