Coastal Haiti Mission

Presents a Need

Dear Family and Friends of Coastal Haiti Mission,

As many of you know, CHM has for many years supported the school in Cahess under the leadership of Pastor Coty. Each month we send salaries for the teachers and cover the school’s lunch program. By God’s grace, the school has grown from pre-K through 9th grade and has become a vital blessing to the community.

At our recent Board meeting, Pastor Coty shared a pressing need. Some classrooms were built years ago as temporary structures, yet they are still in use today. They are hot, dark, noisy, and not conducive to learning. (see photos of these classrooms at the end of this message).

To give the children a healthy learning environment, Pastor Coty has asked us to help build four new classrooms at a cost of $5,000 each, or $20,000 total. These will be permanent, concrete-roofed rooms that will be cooler and quieter.

This need is above and beyond our monthly budget, and we want to assure you that our commitment to teacher salaries and lunches will not be reduced.

To date $5000 has been received and construction has begun. We will report on the fund as it grows and on the building construction progress in future CHM Newsletters. If the building fund exceeds $20,000, the overage will be used to improve the school.

We invite you to prayerfully consider an extra gift, of any size, toward this building project. Whether your gift helps fund part of one classroom or more, every contribution will directly bless the children of Cahess. Please designate your donation “Classrooms.”

Thank you for the sacrifices you already make to sustain this ministry. We do not take it lightly. Your generosity continues to provide hope and opportunity for the next generation in Haiti.

With gratitude,
The Board of Coastal Haiti Mission

Pastor Coty Writes:

Here are some pictures of the classrooms where we are having school. They are really close to each other, so it is very noisy inside when classes are in session. One class interrupts the other classes. It is exceptionally hot in these rooms because the tin roof is very low and it radiates a large quantity of high temperature heat on the teachers and students.

This is where we meet now.
