There had been plenty of everything\u00a0 &#8212; bright lights to hide the gloom, good food to please the palate, plenty of \u201cJohn Barleycorn\u201d to chase away the blues, fancy clothes to boost the ego, lots of friends to impress; <em>\u201cHave <\/em><em>another drink, boys, it\u2019s on me!\u201d<\/em> There was loud music to stun the senses, and loose women\u2026well, we won\u2019t go there, but you get the picture.\u00a0 \u201cLet the good times roll\u201d was the theme for the day.\u00a0 It was great fun while it lasted.<\/p>\n<p>But, it didn\u2019t last.\u00a0 When his money ran out, so did everyone else. And now there was no one to turn to.\u00a0 You see, months earlier he had asked his father for, and had received, a premature inheritance.\u00a0 He\u2019d packed his bags and left his father\u2019s house, and now he was alone in a far country.\u00a0 His inheritance? Gone.\u00a0 His \u201cfriends?\u201d Gone.\u00a0 The good times?<\/p>\n<p>Gone.\u00a0 And he was hungry. Oh, he was hungry!<\/p>\n<p>Well, as the story goes, he bagged a job feeding hogs.\u00a0 Even the corncobs he was feeding the hogs were beginning to look good.\u00a0 And then, something happened; He <em>\u201ccame to himself.\u201d<\/em> He turned his thoughts to his father\u2019s house.\u00a0 Maybe he remembered the love and warmth he\u2019d been given there.\u00a0 Or maybe he thought of being in his father\u2019s fields under the warm summer sky, the smell of freshly-cut hay, the soft lowing of the cattle, or the loud braying of the donkeys on a star-filled night.<\/p>\n<p>And, did I say he was hungry?\u00a0 There was the best of food in his father\u2019s house!\u00a0 <em>\u201cAll those farmhands working for my father sit down to three <\/em><em>meals a day,\u201d <\/em>he thought to himself, \u201c<em>and here I am starving to death.\u201d\u00a0 <\/em>(Luke 15:17 The Message)<\/p>\n<p>He made up his mind.\u00a0 He would do it!\u00a0 He would return to his father\u2019s house.\u00a0 It was a long shot, but maybe he could be hired as a farmhand. And, right then, he headed for home.<\/p>\n<p>The long road home allowed him plenty of time to think and sort things out.\u00a0 Surely, he had<em> \u201csinned against heaven and in the sight of his father.\u201d\u00a0 <\/em>(Luke 15:21a\u00a0 TAB)<\/p>\n<p>Anxiety filled his heart and the fear of rejection seemed to rise up in his throat as he anticipated his arrival home.\u00a0 And then he saw it.\u00a0 Way off in the distance, <em>someone <\/em>was running toward him.\u00a0 As the figure drew nearer, his apprehension intensified.<\/p>\n<p>Surely it <em>couldn\u2019t<\/em> be \u2013 it <em>wouldn\u2019t <\/em>\u00a0be, but it <em>was!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Soon his father\u2019s arms were embracing him, and the man was kissing him fervently! (Luke 15:20b TAB)\u00a0 The boy was startled!\u00a0 <em>\u201cI am no longer worthy <\/em><em>to be called your son,\u201d <\/em>he cried out.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cBring quickly,\u201d <\/em>his father ordered his bond servants, \u201c<em>the best robe \u2013 the <\/em><em>festive honor robe \u2013 and put it on him, and give him a ring for his hand <\/em><em>and sandals for his feet\u2026\u201d <\/em>(Luke 15:22 TAB)<\/p>\n<p>And the young man <em>knew <\/em>he was still, without a doubt, his father\u2019s son.<\/p>\n<p>The father\u2019s house was full of love and joy.\u00a0 As for the food?\u00a0 <em>\u201cBring <\/em><em>hither the fatted calf,\u201d <\/em>the father ordered, \u201c<em>\u2026Let us eat and be merry! For <\/em><em>this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.\u201d\u00a0 <\/em><em>(Luke15:23-24 KJV)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Within every story Jesus told, like the one above about the prodigal son, is a hidden gem.\u00a0 A wonderful <em>truth<\/em>.\u00a0 Look closely, and you will find it \u2013 if you want to.<\/p>\n<p>How about <em>you<\/em>?\u00a0 Are you in a \u201cfar country?\u201d\u00a0 Want to know the way to the Father\u2019s House?\u00a0 There\u2019s only one way.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI AM THE WAY, the truth, and the life: No man cometh unto the Father\u00a0 <\/em><em>but by me.\u201d <\/em><em>(John 14:6 KJV)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0 Jesus Christ<\/p>\n<p>Walking this Way with you,<\/p>\n<p>Connie<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>The Children\u2019s Christmas Party<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Pastor Coty Writes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Not only did the children of the Village of Cahess celebrate the Christmas party, but everyone in Cahess also came to celebrate the Christmas party with the children. We had a very good time together with the children and their parents.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0More than 200 children came to this celebration.\u00a0 The number of participants in the Saturday Sunday School is typically about 100, but as the time for the\u00a0party got closer, the number of children in this ministry grew week after week. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Many children come from other villages on this special day, to celebrate with our children. By the grace of God, and the generosity of you, the supporters of CHM, we had enough gifts and food for all of them. From the request of CHM, that touches the heart of God&#8217;s people, to the donations of these people<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>that purchases food for every single school day, and then to our kitchen, so that the teachers can serve the school kids each day. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Without you, who support this food program, the remaining part of this trajectory would not exist. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Thank you, Lord. This is just the reality of life in Haiti.<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0I want to tell you about a lady whose name is Evelene Fran\u00e7ois. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>She is the lady that CHM helped to put a roof on her house.
