{"id":2329,"date":"2021-10-14T18:28:07","date_gmt":"2021-10-14T22:28:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/coastalhaitimission.org\/?page_id=2329"},"modified":"2022-12-04T11:06:07","modified_gmt":"2022-12-04T16:06:07","slug":"september-2021-newsletter","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/coastalhaitimission.org\/?page_id=2329","title":{"rendered":"September 2021 Newsletter"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>\u00a0<\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Coastal Haiti Mission Newsletter<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>September 2021<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">GATHERINGS<\/h3>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A dear friend of mine passed away not long ago.\u00a0 We\u2019d been friends since high school.\u00a0 We sort of \u201cgrew up\u201d together, helping each other through the cornucopia of life experience, sharing the ups and downs, and \u201cyeas\u201d and \u201cnays\u201d of teenagery (is that a word?).\u00a0 We saw each other through the ensuing years of marriage, parenthood, and, eventually, the passing of our husbands.<\/p>\n<p>Our friendship was a great gift.<\/p>\n<p>We are not meant to walk alone.\u00a0 We are not made that way by our Creator.\u00a0 Besides our own families \u2013 parents, spouses, children, siblings, etc., we need others.<\/p>\n<p>So let\u2019s hear it for the small-group prayer and Bible studies offered by so many of our churches today.<\/p>\n<p>According to a study made by national insurer Cigna, most Americans feel \u201clonely, left out, and not known.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We need care, healing, encouragement, and attention.\u00a0 And, most importantly, we need to learn to be <em>authentic <\/em>with one another.\u00a0 I believe that many of us are presenting a \u201cfalse self\u201d to others for fear of rejection.\u00a0 (You know, <em>If you really knew who I was, you wouldn\u2019t like me.)\u00a0 <\/em>I saw a large pin on one of the men in my church one time that read\u00a0 GOOD, AND YOU?\u00a0 The pat answer! Whether or not it\u2019s true.<\/p>\n<p>Although these dear ones are loved by others, they cannot feel the love because it is being directed to the false self they have portrayed while the real self is still hiding in the wings.<\/p>\n<p>A small group of people meeting on a regular basis and truly committed to one another can do much to bring life, healing, and stability to one another.\u00a0 So many folks, Christians included, are suffering from trauma of one kind or another: a dire medical report, a rebellious child, loss of a loved one, loss of a job, divorce, or even long- ago abuse. (Or, maybe they were a long &#8211; ago abuser.) They desperately need to be loved, accepted, and cared for.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Tim Clinton, President of The American Association of Christian Counselors, says in the October issue of <em>Charisma <\/em>magazine that <em>\u201cCommunity -particularly Christian community with<\/em> <em>its devotion to prayer, confession, openness, vulnerability, service and investment in others \u2013 is more and more being understood as a bulwark against the traumatizing culture in which we live.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>And Christian communities have the benefit of spiritual help and guidance.\u00a0 Jesus said that wherever two or three are gathered in His Name, He would be <em>\u201cin the midst of them.\u201d <\/em>(Mat. 18:20)<\/p>\n<p>And we have gifts from the Holy Spirit, given to build up the Body of Christ for <em>good <\/em>and <em>profit.\u00a0 <\/em>(1 Cor. 12:8-10)<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <em>\u201cAnd walk in love \u2013 esteeming and delighting in one another-<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us, a slain offering\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 and sacrifice to God [for you, so that it became] a sweet<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0fragrance\u201d\u00a0 <\/em>(Eph.5:2<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Walking this way with you,<\/p>\n<p>Connie<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Life in the Village<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Pastor Coty Writes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Everyone in life is expecting something, either now or in the future. The kids of Cahess were expecting and looking forward to the reopening of school.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0When they found out the date that school would begin, they decided to come and clean the school. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Even though some of the parents were not ready for school to open because of the cost, the kids were ready to start, days before the first day of school. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>They got soap and water and proceeded to begin cleaning. They washed and rinsed the benches. Then they cleaned the classrooms. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>No one forced them to this. There will be 270 students and teachers, an increase of 42 students.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>This means that at $0.50 per meal, we will need to provide $135.00 for each school day.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>For a 20 school day month, we will need to provide $2,700.00<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>We will need additional school lunch sponsors to provide this quantity of lunches.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>If you desire to help with the cost of feeding the school students and teachers, please send your donation to the address at the end of this newsletter, or if you prefer to make an \u201conline donation,\u201d please use our PayPal service, also at the end of this newsletter.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3>\u00a0<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Food for the Needy Program<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Pastor Coty Writes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The food for the needy program is the hope for the hopeless in the village. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>We know that no one can live without food and there are many people who don&#8217;t get access to food in the world. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>How do these people survive? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>They need the support of other people, to face life every day. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>This is the reality for many people in Haiti. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Me, Pastor Coty; I\u00a0 happen to know some of those people, because they live in my village. With the support of others, my people can face life by receiving food. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>I keep hearing thanks, thanks and thanks from them every time they receive food, but truly the ones who really need to hear their thanks, is <u>YOU.<\/u> <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>You do not know them personally, but God does. Monel will train the recipients on the safe use of the system as well as provide installation help and suggestions of how to get the best use, and maximum system lifetime.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Lighting System Distribution <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>This is one of the families that has received a light system.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Her name is Rose-Guerline Saintil. She is the mother of 5 kids. Her husband was working in the field when we took these pictures.
